Weapon of choice (911) 996 Turbo Manual

I didn’t come to Porsche ownership until 2016 with a 986 Boxster S, having enjoyed mostly German Brand Cars since the late 90’s.

I found the handling and symphony of the flat 6 simply intoxicating. Unfortunately, like many newcomers to the Porsche Brand, I bought with rose tinted glasses, my heart not my head, and it turned out to be a money pit. After finally getting it how I wanted I was able to enjoy it to the max, I was especially impressed with the handling abilities on track.

Sadly, I had catastrophic engine damage while on Brands Hatch Circuit, and ended up stripping the car for parts. However, I was hooked, and so began the search, saving and research into what to buy next. I decided I wanted a coupe 911. After hours of research and an independent inspection I finally narrowed it down and pulled the trigger on a manual 996 Turbo affectionately known as “Penny”.

Shortly after I became the main founder of the Club, I have been managing it since.

Weapon of Choice: Jaguar XKR 4.2 Supercharged

I’ve always loved cars but a good few years ago I watched Wheeler Dealers and Mike had bought a Boxster with a dodgy Tiptronic. One gearbox oil change later at it was on the market for £6k. I thought to myself “now, that’s achievable with a bit of pocket money being saved here and there”. I hit the target in 2020 and splashed out on a 987 Boxster S. I was finally on my car journey!

When Boris let us out in groups of six in early 2021, I met Martin for the first time. We hit it off straight away with our politically incorrect humour and “wing up” driving speeds.

Taking over from a failed group meet later that year was stressful but great fun. The plan was to do the drive and collapse the group but drunk on the half-success we decided to do another one. And another one and so on…

The cold hand of Bore Scoring gripped me in late 2021 and ruined my fun for quite some time. I was Chief Navigator and Radio Operator with Martin and loved being thrown up the road in Penny. I’m back on the road in a very different car now but loving every minute of it.

My car journey will continue but that Boxster will always be the benchmark for handling and pure fun. Supporting Martin and the group gives me a reason to own my car as without them I’d just be a lone hooligan in a Jag!

Weapons of choice 1979 911SC and GT4

I have spent a lifetime enamored by the beauty, power, and precision of fast cars. My passion for cars ignited at an early age and has since evolved into a lifelong love affair with the iconic Porsche 911.

While I have dabbled with various automotive brands over the years, my heart has always gravitated back to the timeless allure of the Porsche 911. Its distinctive design, unparalleled engineering, and exhilarating performance continue to captivate me like no other.

I am lucky enough to own a 1979 911SC and a heavily modified 997 C4S both of which frequently attend club events.

Having a strong background in Digital Technology, I assist the club with all its IT and technical needs.

Weapon of choice: 911 996 Carrera 2

I’ve been crazy about cars since a boy with a 959 poster on my bedroom wall. My first car was a VW mk2 Golf Gti and over the years I’ve owned many performance cars, mostly hot hatches and rally replicas. I’ve always loved the Porsche brand, particularly its sports cars, but couldn’t make ownership work with my lifestyle which involves carry lots of kit both in my job as a Royal Marine and supporting my hobbies of mountaineering, mountain biking and skiing.

When I left the Marines in 2018 I decided to treat myself to second car, without the boring constraints of practicality I purchased a 996 C2 from Castle Motors. The car has been amazing, I absolutely love Porsche ownership and now consider it essential in my life. The car is great but just as important is the sense of community that comes with Porsche ownership.

We’ve got great roads in the South West and I enjoy (spirited) driving. So, I run regular drives in South Devon and a road trips. I’ve just returned from a trip to Spa and Nurburgring; these are incredible experiences and bucket list essentials for any petrolhead.

Weapon of choice: 991.1 C2S

I’ve been car mad for as long as I can remember, passing my test as soon as I could. Early cars included a couple of warm hatch Peugeots and a mk1 MX5, but company cars and family life kept things fairly restrained.

That changed with a mk3 Octavia vRS—promptly tuned to 309bhp—and a mk3 MX5 that became a spirited weekend road‑stormer and occasional track toy. Yet the dream was always clear: a Porsche 911.

In 2023 I made it happen and became the proud owner of a 991.1 Carrera 2S. The car has been everything I hoped for.

Soon after, I joined a club drive from Saltash McDonalds and immediately warmed to the people and the approach. Since then I’ve enjoyed many drives, including memorable trips abroad.
